Collecting Your Bird
Purchasing a turkey or goose from Maperath Farm is no ordinary event. Every December we host a Collection Day.
Our farm is transformed into a Winter Wonderland and our all of our customers and their children are welcome to visit our farm, see the animals and partake in what we hope will become an annual tradition for many families. We deck our farmyard out in Christmas decorations and we have food and mulled wine for the parents to enjoy. We'll also have fresh vegetables, potatoes, goose fat, locally sourced honey and fresh port for sale for the festive occasion.
At Maperath Farm our aim is to educate children about sustainable farming and encourage them to get involved in the story of their food. They will get to see all of our animals, and get involved in lots of activities. They’ll also learn about everything it took to raise our delicious birds. At the end of the day, our customers return home with the Christmas turkeys packaged in a box with a recipe card and a ‘Note From Your Turkey’ – which asks the cook to take as much care in cooking the bird as we have taken in rearing it.
This festive day out will really kick off all your Christmas celebrations and we hope everyone leaves our farm feeling merry and bright. This year our collection days are:
